Not like they used to make

I had a full set or Thule’s original (first) luggage. Double wheels, lots of aluminum. Ballistic nylon. Most of it still functions today with some zipper or slight wheel issues. However purchased this piece and immediately saw a difference. The single wheel design is more difficult to push - particularly in airports that refuse to migrate from carpet. My original bag glides by finger tip - this bag requires effort to push. Thinner wall and material construction. Stitching is less robust. It just feels like they went full value (cost) engineered, mass production.

Good bag with questionable lifetime warranty

Bag is fine. My only issue: I was forced to buy a new bag as my other Thule bag failed. But Thule wouldn’t honor the warranty because I didn’t register it. However warranties (warranty language, state and federal law, etc) don’t require the consumer to register to initiate or validate a warranty…

Beer belly

Overall, it’s a decent suitcase when it comes to construction quality and materials, but this larger one, the 68 cm one, has one major design flaw. Overall, both the 22 inch and this 27 inch Subterra 2 are both described as “dark slate” which appears more grey in the picture, but is actually green. And as I’m not a fan of green, I would’ve ordered the black. The smaller one is available in a “vetiver gray” but I didn’t get that because the larger one did not come in that color. My color pickiness aside, The larger suitcase has a pretty serious design flaw. Since it is not expandable, they put the girth of the suitcase out in front when standing on the wheels and thus it tips very easily. The smaller one is more evenly weighted over the wheels, but because there is the additional space In the larger one, it protrudes out over the wheels like a beer belly, it has a tendency to tip unless you intentionally, and with a great deal of planning, place all of your heaviest things somehow at either the bottom of the suitcase along the handle or the side with the wheels, the thing will tip over.

Great product

I purchased this new model for my wife last month because I already have a Subterra 1 and it’s just perfect. I just find that they may be a bit expensive.

Awesome Suitcase

I am currently travelling with my new Subterra 2 suitcase and I love it. It rolls and spins like a dream. I appreciate the thoughtful features such as the section that is accessible from the outside, and the grip handle on the bottom. It looks great and stands out among other cases (handy at the luggage carousel). I am very happy with my purchase!

Love this bag!!!

I bought this carry on bag for a trip to Mexico. It held everything I needed for a 6 day trip. It is so light and the spinner wheels make all the difference!
