It works fine, when it bothers connecting.

I bought this two months ago. Its nicely built and interesting looking. Once I had it set up with chrome cast, I felt disappointed. It had a really aggressive sound that hurt to listen to, very forced forward-mids with bizarre boomy bass that felt "disconnected". So I messed with the EQ in the app - and then it sounded pretty good! I was happy. And then one day, I couldn't connect to it anymore. The documentation and troubleshooting processes couldn't help me. It just wouldn't turn off anymore. I had to factory reset it 5 times. It failed to connect to wi-fi something like 17 times. The solution was just to keep repeating, keep resetting, over and over and over. Finally once wi-fi connected, Google wouldn't recognise it. I had to do that process 4 times. All in all - it took my 75 minutes to reconnect my speaker that was working fine just yesterday. If it happens again, I'm sending it back. I don't hours to setup a device again and again. Nothing changed with my network, no power outages, nothing. All other devices kep working fine, but this speaker didn't. Thank fully its back working again. Let's hope it stays that way. All that effort for a small lifestyle speaker that needs to be "EQ adjusted" just so it doesn't hurt to listen to.

I love JBL and had one of the smaller speakers that recently died after 13 years! - I really love the look of this speaker and the sound is amazing. i gave it 4 stars simply because the battery does die quickly.

Looks and sounds amazing

The sound quality on this speaker is fantastic. Rich, full, and well balanced across bass, mids and treble. A clear step above JBL's portable range. The retro design with the Quadrex grille looks great too. It's the kind of speaker you actually want on display rather than hidden away. The built-in Google Assistant and Alexa work well, and having WiFi streaming alongside Bluetooth and AirPlay means it plays nicely with everything. Two minor gripes. First, it's marketed as portable but it's bulkier and heavier than you'd expect. The battery and handle are handy for moving it room to room, but you wouldn't want to lug it much further than that. Second, the figure-8 power cable feels dated when everything else has moved to USB-C. Neither are dealbreakers, but worth knowing. Overall, really happy with this purchase.

Great hardware, app is the worst.

Great software, but the app is abysmal. Android app cannot pair speakers, or set up smart assistant. Had to use old apk of software to make it work. Tried on 3 different phones. Support are aware of the bug but JBL clearly do not care about QC. Also chrome cast doesnt work.
