Excellent first espresso maker!
Take your time setting it up and reading the instructions. It may take you several test cups to dial-in the grind size and amount, but once you do, don’t touch it. You should now have the perfect espresso drink every time you use this beauty! Highly recommend!

Quality & Durability
Excellent machine that makes consistently fine espresso. Durable. Some suggestions: grind the coffee quite fine; Use the double wall filter - it makes noticeably better espresso than the single wall (for both 1 or double shot coffee); Empty the drip tray frequently; Prior to making an espresso run the water through a single shot serving (as recommended in the instructions) to warm up the mechanism and your cup.

An Expensive Machine that fails the quality test
We have taken impeccable care with use, cleaning, descaling of our Barista Express machine. Maximum 2 uses daily. The sensor to start and stop the grind became errratic; all sources said we had to clean and clear the bean grinding unit. That consistently did not work. We shipped the machine to Breville and of course, they say fixing it is more expensive than buying a new one. They offer 30% discount at their full retail pricing online. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE solution GIVEN IT GAVE 4 YEARS OF SERVICE. We have a washer, dryer dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezers that all operate perfectly at 4 years. This is NOT a well made product, as one can see from regularly poor reviews. What a complete disappointment. We truly thought we were purchasing a fine piece of kitchen equipment.
